Traditional Cooking Lessons
Tucked away in Rajasthan’s rugged Aravalli hills on what was once the staging area for the Maharajah of Alwar’s hunting expeditions, Amanbagh is an oasis of palm, fruit and eucalyptus trees. The resort is now offering local Ajabgarh cooking lessons in a traditional gwaadi (village hut), built to replicate a local home with mud walls and a straw roof within the resort’s beautiful grounds. After picking fresh produce in the organic gardens, guests will cook with Amanbagh’s chefs over a chulha (local mud stove), then dine on their creations. Many of Amanbagh’s chefs come from nearby villages and have brought with them recipes passed down through generations of local families whose ancestors once cooked for the royal hunting party.
