“…This time, I’ve come to check out the new hotel from Amanresorts, a group I adore. As I glide over the lagoon by train, on a winter’s day so crisp and clean and perfect that even the rubbish bins seemed gilded, I couldn’t help but wish I was deep in the gaudy, intoxicating chaos of Naples instead. Or settling down to a typically robust Roman lunch. But stepping out of the Grand Canal and onto the private jetty of Aman Canal Grande, something seems different. Better.“

“Service is polished and smiling. My room is a different planet from the usual Venetian faded grandeur. This is a place where historic meets current, where busts and intricately checkered marble floors sit beside resolutely Modernist furniture. It works – the contemporary simplicity offering contrast to the gloriously over-the-top Baroque brilliance.”

“Although the 24-room hotel is full, I have a feeling I am the only guest in the place and that the whole staff is there for me, and me alone. Within these thick walls, you’re miles removed from the bustle of Venice, yet very much part of it too.”

“The Aman has a warmth and character that’s impossible for a new hotel to manufacture, and that’s because this hotel is also a home: The magnificent Palazzo Papadopoli has been in Count Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga’s family for generations, and he still lives on the top floor with his wife and three of their children.”

“Enjoying the morning-cappuccino under old trees in the garden – in Venice, this is a rarity. The wonderfully restored Palazzo from the 16th century not far away from the Rialto Bridge even has two small parks. The house with its 24 rooms and suites opened in 2013. In the former ballroom you take your meals under antique candelabras, in the salon you sit under an original Tiepolo ceiling fresco from the 18th century. There is a small Spa lying hidden in the 3rd floor. The view from the roof terrace over the city of the Doges is so beautiful you could cry.”

"The most chic hotel in Venice"

"I must say that I was literally amazed by Aman Canal Grande. It is probably the most beautiful hotel in Venice "

"The situation of the hotel on the Grand Canal, close to the Rialto, is remarkable."

"Frescoes, sculptures, terrazzo flooring, leather walls in the library: everything is spectacular!"

"Everywhere one feels to be the guests of the owners and not the hotel’s clients. An example? When you go for a drink at the bar, you are welcomed by your name! You leave without signing anything because here one trusts each other. The next day, the bartender will even remember what you drank the night before! "

"The cooking mixes Japanese, Italian and Thai influences and of course, is very (very) good "

"This is one of the finest achievements of the Aman group. Difficult to find a most beautiful place in the world! "

“We can be thankful then for the vision of Adrian Zecha, Amanresorts’ founder and CEO, who saw an opportunity to bring Venice something that no other luxury hotel on the Grand Canal had managed to conjure: classy, contemporary calm.”

“Intriguingly, that’s what the Aman Canal Grande Venice delivers: a sense of belonging.”

“…the Aman’s masterful and measured marriage of great architecture proportions, traditional finishes, and strictly contemporary furniture in stone-coloured linen, work the majestic rooms with unapologetic chic.”
