"I return to my suite leaving my muddy runners outside the door but next morning they have disappeared. As I open cupboards and look under the bed, the doorbell chimes and there, on a silver tray, are my shoes - at least I think they're mine as there's not a hint of mud anywhere and I admit I am impressed. It's all part of the outstanding service at Amandari."
"Balinese-style gateway lead to thatch-roofed suites, all in individual walled courtyards. From my spacious suite, I can see villagers going about their daily life, working in the rice fields, playing with their young children or heading to the temple. The villagers use the hotel's pathways to access their rice fields while their children practise traditional dances in the resort's open-air lobby, which is designed like a wantilan - or village meeting place."
