diving/snorkelling
PADI–accredited dive programmes are available year-round. There are introductory one-day courses as well as itineraries for the more experienced.
Amanpuri’s dive operation, H2O Sportz, is a PADI training facility specialising in programmes both for experienced divers and newcomers. The introductory course is a quick, safe way to experience the thrill of scuba diving in one day. The course consists of a brief introduction to the equipment followed by a pool session, during which you will be introduced to basic skills. That afternoon, you will be diving with your instructor. PADI Open Water Certification and all other PADI courses are featured, along with a wide range of dive destinations for experienced divers. Full gear is available.
racha island
Racha Island, less than 15km south of Phuket, is one of the most beautiful destinations in the region. The Malay name for “king,” Racha Island has two snow-white sand beaches and is a great snorkelling and diving site.
shark point
Just 40 minutes from Amancruises’ eastern base, this is a shallow dive (about 10m). Shark Point is famous for tame leopard sharks, bright-purple sea anemones, snappers and schools of moray eels.
koh kai nok
About 30 minutes from Amancruises’ eastern base, this shallow dive follows the small island of Koh Kai Nok. A wide variety of fish and coral are visible from the reef edge of the island.
koh dok mai
Perhaps the area’s most spectacular site, Koh Dok Mai is about 40 minutes away. This wall dive brings you through caves and crevices filled with scorpion fish, sea anemones, coral and all that the brilliant underwater world of the Andaman Sea has to offer.
