A secluded retreat for travellers wishing to explore the magnificent temples of Angkor and the quaint Cambodian town of Siem Reap, Amansara is an intimate 24-suite resort, the former guest villa of King Sihanouk.
Most of the 24 suites – 12 with private pools – are set around the clipped lawns of the private garden compound and the striking irregularly-shaped blue-tiled pool. For a really intimate ceremony, it is recommended that the couple book out the entire property. Traditional Khmer wedding costumes can be worn by the couple, while musicians and dancers serenade the party. Amansara recommends that the couple are either legally married before, or will have their legal marriage after their wedding blessing at Amansara. If the couple wishes to have a legal wedding in Cambodia, this will be a lengthy process to organise, but it can be arranged. For a stunning backdrop for wedding photos, a photo shoot can be held after the ceremony amongst the atmospheric ruins of Angkor which are only 10 minutes away. After returning to Amansara, a reception with a Khmer banquet can be held in a number of locations. Tables can be laid out beneath the shaded outdoor pergola or under the soaring 7m ceiling in the circular dining room. For a view of the courtyard and pool surrounded by palm trees, the roof terrace with its scattered comfy cushions is a pleasant option.
- A Christian or Khmer monk blessing can be arranged for the ceremony
- A maximum of 48 persons can be accommodated and catered for at a sit-down dinner at Amansara. Cocktails and canapés can be arranged for up to 60 persons.
