Surrounded by the brilliant, blue waters of the Sulu Sea and seven square kilometres of reef, Amanpulo is an ideal destination for divers. Novices will welcome the clear seas in front of the Beach Club and the gentle drop-off to deeper waters. Included are five nights’ accommodation in a Beach Casita, full breakfast daily, served in the casita or in the Restaurant, one gourmet picnic lunch basket for two and a choice of one dive programme.
Fun dive
For certified divers, the course includes six day dives (for Open Water Certified divers) or five day dives and one night dive (for Advanced Open Water Certified divers). Amanpulo Divemasters can recommend the best dive spots around the island, according to the diver’s experience and prevailing sea and weather conditions. The colourful coral reefs surrounding Amanpulo teem with abundant marine life, including cuttlefish, tuna, rays, turtles and reef sharks.
PADI advanced open water
The two-day course, for certified divers, includes a short lecture to brief the divers and five open-water dives, including a navigation dive, a deep dive and three elective dives. Guests can choose from nine elective or specialty dives: boat dive, multi-level and computer, AWARE fish identification, Diver Propulsion Vehicles (DPV), Peak Performance Bouyancy, search and recovery, underwater naturalist, underwater photography and night dive.
PADI scuba diver
The two-day course for novice divers includes three classroom sessions, confined-water dives and two open-water dives. Those who have completed the course may dive to a depth of 12m under an instructor’s supervision. They may also move on to the PADI Open Water Certification, available for an additional fee.
