Morocco’s temperate winters offer balmy days and cool nights – ideal for exploring the legendary wonders of Marrakech in comfort, whilst still allowing the chance to enjoy Amanjena’s 33-metre heated outdoor swimming pool. Situated just 15 minutes from the ancient city’s famous medina, the resort is set in an oasis of palm and olive trees, reflecting Morocco’s Moorish heritage with graceful architectural flourishes.
From its 32 rose-toned Pavilions that radiate from a central bassin, to its seven two-bedroom Maisons with zellij-tiled wall fountains and marble columns, Amanjena echoes both the Berber villages of the High Atlas Mountains as well as the geometry and elegance of a sultan’s palace. Facilities include two restaurants, two hammams, tennis courts, a gym and a spa.
Largely surrounded by its original ramparts and 12th-century fortress walls of red earth, Marrakech is described by UNESCO as a “fully-preserved historic town”. A World Heritage Site, it presents a captivating inner world of winding lanes, old fondouks (inns), hammams (steambaths) and souks (shops) of every kind amidst the enticing smells of cumin, mint tea and barley bread baking in communal ovens. Providing insight into the fusion of African, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences that form the cultural fabric of this dynamic desert city, Amanjena offers a variety of guided excursions on foot, bicycle or private car.
From 1 December 2012 to 22 March 2013:
• Guests staying for three nights or more will enjoy complimentary daily breakfast, a three-course lunch or dinner for two (excluding beverages) and airport transfers to/from Marrakech airport.
